Transformative teaching tricks… Humans, well, we struggle with that concept. We prefer negotiation over instincts. We struggle to accept that change is important and usually beautiful, if messy. Humans like to know exactly what we’re getting into before we take our first step. We want to know the outcome before we make any decisions – what’s in it for us? Imagine if a caterpillar refused to build a cocoon until it could have a say in what color its wings would be? Or until it was promised a certain flying speed? We might not have as many butterflies as we’d have anxious and negotiating larvae. This is why humans need a motivational coach.
Clients also generate or manifest the life they imagine through their beliefs and through their stories. By choosing to see things another way and then taking actions based on this new interpretation the client has the power to have things turn out differently. In other words, clients are always being powerful. Even when they choose to interpret themselves as victims, it’s still a powerful choice. As coaches, we want to distinguish the way a client is currently being powerful in her life. Does it serve her? If not, is she willing to see things in another way that would allow her to use her power in a more effective and exciting way? Everything we do is an act of power.
Transformational coaching, with its focus on enabling clients to change and transform how they feel, think, and act, can only have come about through the profession gaining experience and reputation whilst drawing on developments in psychology and neuroscience. It has also evolved due to a divergence between what our clients understand, and what they succeed in putting in to practice over the long-term. Therefore, the central tenet of transformational coaching is about identifying and utilising what it is that enables real change. Not just ‘good intentions’ but real sustained transformation. Interview candidates thoroughly. Judiciously interview several business coaches; this will increase your odds of finding the right match for you. This decision is as critical as selecting the right attorney and financial advisor. You want to be cautious and patient. Draft a list of interview questions. To find a fitting coach for your business, you’ll want detailed answers to specific questions. Questions you’ll likely want to ask include: What is your background in business? What is your experience coaching business owners? What credentials do you have in coaching or in other related fields? What is your personal coaching style? With what kind(s) of clients do you work best? What are the business issues in which you are most qualified?
Both online and traditional corporate training have their advantages and disadvantages, and complicated logistics are a big disadvantage of the latter, as organizing a number of corporate seminars and workshops can be a real headache. However, it is not always possible for companies to fully replace their traditional training programs with online ones, as they still need some of the benefits that traditional training has to offer, such as social interaction among employees. This is where blended learning for corporate training comes in: by using a blended approach you can reduce the number of live seminars and organize the rest via video conferences without worrying about locations not being convenient for all of your employees. This way, you can easily distribute your training material through your Learning Management System and, of course, contribute to the follow up of both your online and live seminars by offering additional information for further online discussion, or conducting surveys and polls to evaluate the effectiveness of your training. Last but not least, a blended approach is not only more convenient, but also much more eco-friendly; just imagine saving printing material for so many employees.
